Subaru’s Share the Love event began 13 years ago with the goal of supporting the impactful work of charities during the holiday season. Too many seniors are struggling to stay independent and healthy. One in four seniors lives alone in isolation and one in seven seniors might not know from where their next meal is coming. This is simply unacceptable, which is why Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland provides the nutritious meals, wellness calls, and safety checks to aging and homebound individuals throughout Maryland. This vital support keeps seniors in their own homes, where they want to be.
We’re incredibly grateful to Subaru and its Retailers for supporting our organization and the seniors we serve. With that in mind, we thought you might want to learn a little bit more about the Subaru Share the Love Event.
The Meals on Wheels network has been a part of this incredible effort since the very beginning. Share the Love has truly made a difference, with 2.3 million meals nationwide being delivered to homebound individuals. In this time of uncertainty and isolation, Subaru remains dedicated to giving back, and with your help, can make a bigger impact than ever before.
The Event
Now through January 4, 2021, with every new Subaru vehicle purchased or leased, Subaru will donate $250 to the customer’s choice of participating charities, including Meals on Wheels America (MOWA). Click here to learn more!
As a member of the MOWA network, Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland, will receive a portion of the gifts to continue to provide our clients with healthy meals and supportive programs this holiday season and beyond.
The Impact
Beginning in 1960, the mission of Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland has been to “enable people to live independently at home through the provision of nutritious meals, personal contact, and related services.” Every week, we provide thousands of meals to homebound seniors in Maryland who otherwise would not be able to shop or cook for themselves, allowing them to stay in their own homes. We offer More than a meal™ programs such as Case Management, the Grocery Assistance Program (GAP), and Client Wellness Calls that allow for greater wrap around services and socialization.
Throughout the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we have stepped up to serve, increasing production levels by over three times at the peak and safely delivering to clients. Subaru’s Share the Love event will help us be ready for what is to come.
